Redwater Golf Course is a great golf course for the family. Featuring the infamous #3, a 123 yard Par 3 which holds a back-to-front sloping green, encompassed by trees and fronted by 2 ponds. Also having a very long Par 5 and numerous doglegs, this course is challenging due to its tricky fast greens, but it also has very forgiving fairways and shallow sand bunkers. It is a great time and is very cheap if you want 9 holes of fun exhilirating golf.

The course itself is well maintained and in a very nice setting....however, the staff and management are the worst I have ever experienced in over 20 years of playing golf in Western Canada. During our 8 holes of golf (rained out....without a rain check or even a hint of consideration), we were followed by the marshall for over 4 holes, without reason. We had booked a foursome for the day but one of our players couldn't make it. Upon explaining the situation to the management, we were advised that a $40 penalty would be levied or we would not be allowed to play and everyone would be charged for the round. This is despite the fact that the two groups in front of us were a threesom and a twosome. If the intention of the management and staff is to drive people away from this course...congratulations, you are succeeding in your goal. This experience has ensured that I will never play this course again and will communciate the absolute terrible experience to all that I know....horrific time that could have been a pleasant day. Get rid of the management and staff, and I will consider coming back...until then, no chance.

This Layout is one of the best I have seen. It is a complete shame and discredit to the great and ancient game of golf that the character of the course is not reflected by the staff and resident golf pro Dennis Bradley. Around the fourth hole of play we were reprimanded for have our cart a few feet off the path. We sincerely apologized and continued play. On the fifth hole we were told that we two holes behind. My two other friends (who are seasoned players as well as myself) saw no evidence of play being held up. In fact we were a hole and a half in front of the next group. The Course Marshall followed our every move for the next 3 holes. I can't begin to tell you how intimidated and uncomfortable we all felt, so much so that by the 6th hole I stopped keeping score. We were finally left alone for about 3 holes. The course Marshall appeared again on the 11th and informed us that we were still behind by one hole. Again we saw no evidence of this, to try and keep the peace we increased our level of play( please keep in mind that two of us shoot in the low 90's and one in the low 70's.In short we are not beginners).Again our every move was followed until the 13th. The marshal appeared again on the 15 whole and told us were 2 holes behind. We maintained our distance about a hole and a half of the group behind us. Finally
we asked for a definite concrete explanation as we were now clearly being harassed for no just cause, the Marshall then sent down Dennis Bradley the Resident Golf Pro. We felt we could now talk to someone and get a decent explanation. This guy has the social skills of a four year old. He pulled up some obscure rule about keeping with the group in front of you as well as behind. The thing that made this so ridiculous is that the course was maybe 45-50% full and there was no need to get that Technical , none of us had ever heard of this rule inforced.we were told that unless our attitudes changed we should not come back. Golf is a four and a half hour game. We finished in four hours and forty five minutes; the extra time
was wasted on discussion with the resident "Golf Pro" and course marshal.
I would not recommend anybody support this course until the thinking and personnel changes are made. These guys tend to forget how their wages get paid. We came a long way, paid top dollar and were treated like dirt and cattle. Absolutely disgusted!!!!

This would have been nice to know prior to going out there as one member in our group has limited mobility. I love the layout of this course, greens were in very nice shape, tee boxes superb, but the fairways are in lousy shape, so why cart path only? It's not worth $100.00

Nice course! Played today and the course conditions were superb, greens were true and fast. One of the best conditioned courses I have played this year. I haven't played this course much (hard to get tee times) but I enjoy the layout and the course is in fantastic shape. The only negative is they are building houses on some of the holes so hopefully they don't encroach on the course and ruin this gem!

One of my favorites in the area.
Greens are in great shape, fairways & tee boxes are in good shape. Played in terrible conditions (wind & cold) but still enjoyed this outing, tough fair test of golf. My only gripe, the clubhouse sandwich is not very good and they didn't have any balls out to hit prior to our round.

Having been a member at Whispering Pines now for four years I have a pretty good idea how this course plays and what kind of condition it is in.

Although this course has a really great layout the playing conditions of Whispering Pines are somewhat questionable. The fairways need to be redisigned completely, new turf needs to be installed.

The owners of this course should have a serious look at the tee boxes as well, since most of them need to be redone. There is not enough watering on this course which can make it play like an airport runway. Don't expect any extra value here as well. Although there are yardage markers from the fairways (not always accurate) overall this course is not marked very well at all. That could be caused by the constant construction that goes on. My gut feeling is that the owners care much more about their land development currently going than improving their golf course. Too bad they haven't realized that a championship golf course that is maintained well (see Sundre Golf Club or Wolf Creek GC) will attract recreation property buyers.

If there was one positive thing about Whispering Pines is that most of the greens are very playable, I'd say even comparable to some semi-private courses around the area. Combine that with a $1 per hole cost from Monday to Thursday will make Whispering Pines a fairly enjoyable outing for juniors and families. The weekend cost though, in my opinion is too high compared to courses of this calibre.

Overall, I'd rate this course as a 4 out of 10. I've seen another rating system that said this was a 2.5 and "play only as a last resort". I'd say that's a bit harsh and will stick with a 4 / 10, especially since I'm a member and need to justify my costs somehow.

Way over priced. Course is okay but not for the price. Management is out of touch with customers which shows in treatment of golfers, price, course readiness, service, etc.

first time on this course and won't be the last.

only thing is price. With tough times these types of courses better drop their price. simple marketing says it is better to have more people on the course at a cheaper rate than only us 4 out there at full fair.

not kidding, maybe only 3-4 foursomes on the whole course.

great clubhouse. good food. tough links course but not if you hit the fairway ;)

    Greens 3.5/5
    fairways 4/5
    sand 4/5
    price 3.5/5
